NOTE 1: In general, this operation watermarks a PDF file by a PDF watermarking file. Each page of the watermarking file will be applied to the corresponding page of the file to be watermarked.

If the file to be watermarked has more pages than the watermarking file, then the final page of the watermarking file is repeated across the remaining pages in the file to be watermarked. In particular, if the watermarking file is a single-page file, while the file to be watermarked is a multi-page file, then the single page of the watermarking file will be applied to each page of the file to be watermarked.

If the watermarking file has more pages than the file to be watermarked, then remaining pages of the watermarking file will not be applied to the file to be watermarked. In particular, if the file to be watermarked is a single-page file, while the watermarking file is a multi-page file, then the first page of the watermarking file will be applied to the single page of the file to be watermarked.

NOTE 2: The page to be watermarked must be transparent ("show through"). If the page to be watermarked is not transparent (such as a scanned document), then the watermarking page will not be visible under the watermarked page.

NOTE 3: Each page of the watermarking file will be scaled as needed to fit the page to be watermarked.

NOTE 4: The algorithm of this operation will detect and mark by a corresponding error message any input file to be watermarked that: NOTE 5: The algorithm of this operation will accept and successfully process any input file to be watermarked (other than listed above), even if the file is a PDF with a static XFA structure.
